Course icons allow teachers and students to easily identify the type of subject they're assigning or studying!

Quipper School automatically assigns a relevant icon based on the keywords you use in your course name. For example, 'Grade 6 Mathematics'.

Step 1. To view a course icon, hit the More detail button:

Chapters are different sections of a [lesson](http://(http://help.quipperschool.com/en/article_groups/getting-started-with-quipper-school-create/articles/what-is-a-lesson). Use them to break your lesson up into smaller, relevant pieces. They appear to students like slides in a presentation!

Each lesson must contain a minimum of one chapter. This is created automatically when you first start creating a lesson.

Passages may be attached to questions. They are useful when you want to refer multiple questions back to the same piece of text, image or equation.

問題文は問題とひも付けることができます。同じテキストや写真、方程式を複数の問題で参照させたい時に便利です。

Step 1. Open the topic where you want to add a passage.

Step 2. Click + Add passage

This passage can now be simply attached to any question in the topic.

Step 1. Underneath the question box, you will see the option to select a passage from a drop down. Select the passage you want to attach to your question.

Questions are where you can test your students' knowledge! Topics are typically made up of multiple questions that assess a student's knowledge of the subject.

Explanations may be used to explain why an answer was correct. They are optional and will only appear to a student after he/she answers a question.

• Example Question: This shape has four 90° angles and two sides that are 3cm, two sides that are 5cm. What shape is it?

• Example Explanation: Rectangles have four 90° angles and two different sets of equal length sides that are positioned parallel to one another.

How can I format text?

You can use basic formatting on all types of Quipper School content.

When typing on the Text Editor pane, you will see a real-time update of your text in the Live Preview pane.

You can use the following symbols to create basic formatting effects:

Header tags

Header tags add colour and structure to your content. There are several to choose from.

Step 1. Click the Headings button.

Step 2. Select a heading from the box.

Step 3. Choose a heading title between the {title brackets}.

Step 4. Enter your text input between the [open] and [/close] tags.

How can I upload an image?

Images (.png *and *.jpg file format) can be uploaded in all forms of Quipper School content, including:

• Lessons
• Questions/Answer options/Explanations/Hints
• Passages

Step 1. Move the cursor to the place where you would like to place the image.

Step 2. Click the Upload image button.

In the Text Editor pane, you will see the image in code form. Example: ![image][547de81f3ae091374e000294]

In the Live Preview pane, you will see the actual image.

How can I add a mathematical or scientific equation?

Basic equations can be built inside Quipper School Create.

Adding an equation

Step 1. Place the cursor where you would like to insert an equation.

Step 2. Click the Equation button.

Step 3. Enter your equation into the Equation builder box using the available tools. Click Add when you've finished.

In the Text Editor pane, you will see the equation in code form. Example: [% 13^2\times15^2 %]

In the Live Preview pane, you will see the actual equation.

Single choice questions present a student with a multiple choice question that has only one correct answer.

Creating single choice questions

Step 1. Single choice is the default setting for new questions. However, you can select question types at any time by clicking the Question Type drop down arrow.

Step 2. Enter between 2 and 10 different answer options. Hit Enter/Return on your keyboard or click + Add new answer to create additional answer options.

Step 3. The first answer option is labelled correct by default. If this option is not correct, click the ✓ button next to the correct answer to select it.

You can use the same drag and drop method to reorder each of the following:
